Hi guyz,

I wonder if anyone would be kind enough to help me with this. I have HTML and PHP knowledge but I would need help in understanding the concept of creating a small network of artists for an African country. I am willing to do all this for free no matter how long it will take. However, i just need guidenance from experienced developers.

In theory what I need is a multimedia website which i already picked with facebook connect, pull the photos and basic info into their profile on my site and have the ability to upload songs, videos and pictures under their profile which will be sorted into the categories on my website. I don’t want to have any users to register on my side. I want it as light and small as possible but the problem is I have no idea how to do it. Would anyone have the heart to guide me into a direction that would help me to start up the project? Or is there a theme that has all that already ?

I really appreciate you help.

Thanks

Suz

Yes I did, and I understand the concept of facebook connect but the facebook side. But what I understand is how this can be tweaked from my side to make the adjustments I have mentioned above..

Apologies English is my second language so i may be explaining it like a 5 year old sometimes.. lol

I just wanna know if there is some coding from my side needed once facebook connect is up and running..

Seems you need coding from your side. Try to find a developer who is familiar with https://developers.facebook.com/

Hi, just so I am clear on what you are trying to achieve…
You want a way if using FB connect to allow users to add content to their FB page that then update automatically to your own site?
As Pixelous said you need someone who REALLY gets FB connect and integrated apps.

As a heads up – this is a BIG job (custom built in London you would be looking at thousands of $) to achieve if it is possible at all, so I highly doubt anyone will be able to do it for free

We build FB apps a lot and need to check FB policy with most ones we create.

I am pretty sure you will have some serious issues with FB privacy & sharing policy

If it is possible users will still need to register to your site (to have a profile) to be able to upload the content (and you need to know where it comes from for legal reasons)

To do this your script would have to be an app and users would need to authorize it in their FB page to capture their info or share photos, music etc

They would then also have to upload all of the content to the app before it can come over to your site because there is NO way that you can sync it directly from their built in FB account features.

There are potentially a couple of other issues but these are definitely the main ones.
I am not trying to be negative to your idea but I am just trying to make it clear form experience how complicated this could be especially knowing FB connect and the networks policies around content sharing.
Good luck with it.

Thank you so much for your reply.. That is all I needed to know. So in theory its much easier to code it from my side, to sign up, have a small profile with pictures, videos and music. Seems so much easier than facebook connect. Also I don’t think they will miss out on the FB integration since I can add, FB likes, comments etc.

Would you agree with that ?

Thanks again

Really appreciate it.

I can find out exactly tomorrow at work for you but unless you have a serious budget given FB’s most recent changes I would stick to Likes and tweets and Pins on your site – I just think you will face too many issues to go about it the original way. Hope it helps. Good luck
