Similar to a thread I posted earlier, I though it only fair to give you all the heads-up that horizontal scrolling sites will NOT let you start from their center.

If you visit this page which explains horizontal scrolling site code: http://www.thewebsqueeze.com/web-design-tutorials/create-a-horizontal-scrolling-website.html/comment-page-1/#comment-8000 , how would you set the site to load on ‘Page5’ ? Answer – you cant. After 3 days of naging my head against a brick wall and trying everything Google comes up with, I think this is impossible.

I believe you can (well at least with any of my horizontal designs) it would look something like this:

http://www.website.com/index.html#page5

I’d never made a horizontal site before nor researched the topic; but this only took me a couple minutes to come up with.

Doubt that’ll work in IE, though, because of the CSS .

Great example. So for example, if you want to start on page 2, all you need is this link:

http://bretskate.com/sidescroll.html#Page2

Add some jquery to that, to hide the content, and you have a decent site …

Why don’t you create an anchor, give it a name or id, and place it with CSS a little more to the right of the home div. It doesn’t need to have anything in it, just a blank anchor to which you can point the JS event.

something like:

<a name="center" id="center"></a>

Then use the onLoad method as before and point it to this anchor.

Tricky huh.

The thing is, even if I get the page to load with the ‘Welcome’ in the center (the black page), when you click to see the next/previous it loads that new page aligned to the left. If I put the anchor of that new page in it’s center it simply loads left and you see only the second half of that new page.
