@freshface .. i’m not talking about amateurs. I agree that Flash was abused and there were and are a lot of really bad things out there made in Flash..but isn’t this the same in any market? Some HTML sites are incredible, others make your eyes bleed. Amateurs will be on the internet forever. But don’t blame a technology for it’s developers.

About the necessity of beautiful Flash sites (with a lot effort going into them) .. why would you need a Mercedes or a BWM over an old Ford (i own a Ford so no offense intended) ? It’s the same. We like amazing things, and until now, this amazingness was only possible with Flash. And if you’re trying to replicate basic effects in js you know how hard it is do do so.

So Flash is still great, but because of Apple it is dying. And let’s not start about speed & stuff like that. Safari on iPad is the lousiest browser when it comes to js animation.

freshface, even as a Flash developer I agree that Flash should die some day because it is a plugin and stays out from standards. This is what one of Apple’s claim and it is acceptable.

The reason you pointed about over design was an illusion. If we see from that perspective eventually GIF animations have chance to be vanished due to simplifying and improved trends. This simply didn’t happen just because of lack of technology. Do you think the disturbing GIF animations (that exits even today) are existing because of poor taste? No, it clearly represents lack of technology.

I don’t blame technology for developers, I blame accessibility of that technology to a common folk.

Well if you want to buy BMW for a lot of money, just to find out it will not work on a lot of roads now, then you will not buy it – thank Apple for that.

And yes, we can agree that Apple put the final nail in the coffin of Flash, it wasn’t the only nail as I said before, but probably the biggest one.

^ So you believe Flash’s end was due to change of trend! Great!

Good thing is Apple didn’t point this fact and no one on the web! Just look at sales of TF and CC and it started showing what was implemented on Flash has much demand on HTML /CSS/JS too. What I like to point is, the so called trend that killed Flash is still on high demand.

Small part due to change of trend, large part due to Apple. Just to make myself clear :)

Adobe also contribute a huge part to the declined use of Flash. They were clueless for many years and may just be the worst thing that happened to Flash. But hey it’s all the past now, time to move on.

As someone who still work with flash and do it more than 12 years i can tell you this .

First of all regarding the envato market, it’s for sure the largest place in the world for stock goods .

Regarding AD … i think it’s the end there, there is really almost 0 demands there for flash goods, new flash submiter dont sell at all there and it’s the end for me there on a personal level , so if you ask what flashers are doing now that want to stay in the flash sector, 90% moved to the mobile sector struggling with Air or shift them self to Flex (if you ask me Flex will vanish in time also ) the only benefited with flash i can see is with banner animation something that most coders really don’t like to work with due to time working issue and really flash animations require telnet in drawing.

Flash power as a developer if you ask me gives you the freedom to do whatever you want but that is history, if it’s not on the mobile browser world it’s not relevant anymore,i see all the attempt to invent flash on the game sector, so far it’s a sad joke, flash was so popular over the years due to one main issue, it was the amount of huge developer that work with flash worldwide, and now they want to force you to do something else in flash, it’s like you having a hot girlfriend for so many years and now they force you to go out with ugly fat lady ,what normal man will do that ?

Really what we have left now is AIR ….. problem its really hard to generate money on the AIR sector and right now it struggling, simple there is no new blood coming in to flash …so everything going against flash right now .

As someone who love flash ill say to you move off from this sector and fast :P .

It’s not about flash anymore, the market is changing, plain old html template and hrml5 will kick hard under the wp belt .

If you ask me also CC will face some done outcome, with open source today why pay for js stocks .

I think the most successful developer are those who can make great template and focused on unique design, that is the key today and soon the mobile world will take over anyway , fact is most top flasher i know are doing something else today ! But ask any real flash developer that doing html5 now he will tell you there is no logic on what i am doing now ,the only logic we see is to make money, someone need to make a living, also flash developers are like family i cannot say it about html`rs :P .

and it’s amazing when someone who make little html5 animation call it the new future, something that i did in 2002 10 minutes of work with flash :P

Well, many of my friends still doesn’t agree with ‘moving on’. Mind you, none of them are into free lancing or general web-development. They’re all into enterprise app development and many use LCDS and such services and say HTML5 /JS/css3 combo is still lacking in features and security. They say that there’s still huge market for flash and will remain so for a long time in future.

You should be conscious about this fact on your 1st post :)

Btw, as of now even Adobe stopped developing Flash for Mobile web. So we have clear route of going only though CSS /JS no doubt!
