Yeah… if all that energy was pointed into the right direction, I could only imagine what brilliant items you guys could create. :)

Now back to work. ;):p

Hey Dan,

I wish you practiced what you preach. Looking at your Galaxy theme one can only see a ‘too inspired’ design from http://www.nokia.com/mea-en/apps/ so I wonder, were you the original designer then nokia copied you?

So, you basically wish for everyone new here, who submits an item, to check all the existing ones, to make sure theirs is not a copy?... Or, you expect that from everybody here? How would that even be possible?

I fully agree with you that copy cats who steal your work should be taken care of, but let me ask you this. What about if someone creates a much better executed, but strikingly similar theme to yours, in both concept and design, without ever actually seeing your work? What are you going to protect against then? Their right to think? Their creativity?

I think you worry too much lately Dan, don’t let it get to you. I think I’m not the only one who saw that lately in your posts, so try to relax a little, you’re doing yourself more harm than good :) Why not spend that energy on your work instead, you have a pretty good portfolio. Spor la treaba ;)

I had this concept in mind for long time before developing Galaxy, it was a combination of that menu with a high contrast overall design. Yes I saw Nokia website and that gave me more ideas on what my template needs: the slider black background, the site background colors and images, the location of the logo and those header buttons. Aside from the design similarity with Nokia website, I was hoping to bring some new features to the Joomla market: like a responsive slider that can play responsive videos, and other things, but this won’t happen again in the future.

I’m sure with this attitue you’ll get all authors on your side and unite them. Everybody else is a sheeple, right

I would like you to discontinue posting on this thread, you are not helping. FYI: yes, I would like GOOD authors to unite and act in the interest of the union, this makes them better than just a bunch of sheeple.

When you say “no, there is no solution to the copyright infringements” or “you can’t play my toys”, this makes sense the lack of interest and sheeple attitude. The sheeple that awaits to be rescued. The sheeple that’s afraid to do things the hard way.

When 100 copyright infringement complains or DMCA are send to a server, for sure some wz website is taken down, 100 authors can afford to share the cost of anything and anywhere to take down these bugs.

On the design part, when the authors union know most of the items on the forest, all day watching items demos everyday, for sure they can find a way to avoid being copied or stop those who get inspired by others too much. If there are authors who don’t care about, that is their problem.

If you are one of those who don’t care about these issues please stand aside and refrain from opening this thread. Expressing your disbelief does not help. If you think positive on this matter for a minute…

I was part of a nice community some time ago, well organized on their private forums, with Developers Chanel on Skype, where people come and talk what’s next to be done, vulnerability alerts, ongoing development, user support and so on. It was an ongoing strategy planning and implementing. The main problem was and still is the large amount of tasks, mostly development related, and on the other side a huge mass of about 200,000+ and growing users demanding features or asking for support. I used to write documentation, do the final testings and provide support. It was an open source project from witch everyone had a benefit from and some still are. I still think it was and still is a well managed project, even if their product is not the best in the world and/or cannot make everybody happy. It’s open source ultimately.

We authors here can do things even better, we have budget, I figure there’s a 500+ number of authors here who would be directly interested in such kind of organization. Union brings the power back to the sheeple to do the right thing. This union also happens with large corporations: Renault fused Nissan to better fight GM, VW and Toyota, Microsoft works together with their good old competitor Nokia, later Samsung and Apple would work together to fight the Microsoft + Google dynasty, the eastern SkyTeam airliners united to be more competitive on the international flights against western Star Alliance. All these things are discussed discretely outside public reach, as well as for crysis situations management.

For everybody posted in the forum, I thank you for your honest inputs, fair enough. For those who still don’t care, please, stay away, for the others:
  • ThemeForest Authors Union Chanel on Skype, for authors ONLY
  • private forums
  • anything you can think of

Any MOD available can lock the thread anytime, I think we have an idea on what’s here on the forest regarding the topic title.

Thanks everybody.

No offence pal, but I think you’re living in a parallel universe with unicorns and rainbows. The moment you feed your stuff online, that very moment, you’ll lose control of it. There is no way you can do anything. They will rip it apart, copy, steal and you know what they will even rape it.

Big corporations can’t do anything, nor can you. Deal with it or keep your stuff locked in the most remote place you know.

Pssst, don’t say that – he won’t listen to it anyway. I said something similar in the first place and he was seriously offended :D

Btw: I fully agree with you :)

I am about to finish a new item that’s gonna have some new and absolutely unique features, but since many many new authors here come and “steal/get inspired” ideas, how can I claim that my DESIGN is MINE ONLY?

I have some bad experience in the past dealing with someone who came with a very similar design. I think they should be taken responsible for their imitation and take action on changing their items to look different. All these NOOBs have to check the other items available and NOT EVEN TRY to imitate any existing items.

Reviewers cannot check thousands of themes, but I think we should draw the line somewhere, this cannot go any further.. Orman Clark stressed on this issue already last year.

I have to be able to take down anybody stealing my design ideas.
maybe somebody should you take down ? We have 3 mln items, Maybe we check all items and… I guess we find something like your ?

What will you do with the ones that will steal just the concept and improve it until they get a slightly different product, better than yours? You can’t win because there’s no rule on the internet for that. It’s like preventing someone to use sliders because you have one in your theme as well or asking TF to disable the support for something just because your theme has that. Even if you develop an awesome slider, someone will take the idea, code it from 0 and get something even better, there’s nothing you can do about it. That’s the market.

dnp, you are way too offensive. You offended people in previous threads and no you are doing it again. As webtuits mentioned, you are the one that copied Nokia’s website, how are you different from those who copy from TF? This is the internet pal, you like it or you don’t. So please stop being so arrogant and don’t tell people in which threads they can or cannot comment.
