use real forum software like vBulletin or snitz. tons of features already built-in so no wheel re-invention required!

Full Disclosure: I work for the company that makes vBulletin :-)

No, no no no no, keep the forums lightweight like they are. I am getting very friggin tired of the phpBB/Vbulletin forum systems with their bloating.

HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELL NO !!!!!

Websites like this need their own custom forums, incorporated into the main site and main accounts, and looks and works EXACTLY how it should, incorporating vBulletin of PHPBB will completely F * * * this site up!!! I spend 95% of the time on the forums and i love it as it is.

Keep them as they are, it has all the features it needs, and when a feature needs to be added, the dev’s know the code like the back of their hand and within a few seconds BAM ! a new feature is added. Plus the whole site is built in ruby on rails and the main site will be hard to incoroprate with any other language and will leave tonnes of security holes!!!

My biggest wish would be a rich text editor that could be applied to not only the comment area, but on the item submission page as well. The ability to delete forum posts we’ve made (with a notice saying user has deleted this post for reason X) would be nice. This would help with double posts and such.

Another feature (not forum related) that I’d really like to have is more access to my stats. It’s nice to know i made a sale, but it’d be better to at least know what item I sold.

EDIT —Unless this is a thread for the current iteration of the Marketplace. If it is, my bad. My suggestions still stand though :P

I think the forum are fine the way they are. A Rich Text or BBCode editor would be nice instead of typing in the html tags.

That is really the only thing I can see wrong.

Yeah well it’s not ment to be used from a mobile phone.

Anyway, can someone lock the topic? considering that the redesign is over…

I think we will go ahead and lock this one for now as a whole lot of this is very old and pertained to before the redesigned happened, and it is starting to get a little long winded and out of hand.

Please note I am not trying to discourage discussion in anyway, if you guys would like to start a new, more up to date thread, then by all means please do so! :)
