Agree 100% on the recent “Editor” comments. Definitely not full rich text : just better ability to format text layout, especially code snippets, (and NOT get accidental smileys all over the place)

One other thing I would really like to see :
List all forum posts by ‘username’.
List all forum threads started by ‘username’

Another idea I had that might be an effective way of cutting down on forum spam and SEOers using our forums for link-building : Entrust a number of full-time ‘sheriffs’ with the power to delegate spam to a “sin bin” as soon as they notice it. It will immediately be removed from the forums and flagged for admin attention. If admin deem it admissible it goes back on the forum and the ‘sheriff’ gets a black mark. Too many black marks and the sheriff loses his badge permanently.

Currently many spam and SEO link-building posts flagged for admin attention remain on the forums far too long, serving their nefarious purpose before admin have chance to take them down.

Here is a man who is not happy with his current badge collection and wants more :P lol. I think there are one or two forum moderators around here but your right, having a few more will be no harm… :)

I also love the simple look of the forum. Please don’t fill it with a bunch of things like other forums.

The thing I would ask for the most: Subscribing to threads with email notifications. And please subscribe one automatically to a thread when one replies.

I use the “forum threads” box at the bottom of every page the most. Mostly because it lists the last person that replied. I used to use the sidebar, but when it changed to “started by” it got confusing: one can’t tell if one visited the last post or not. I’d add how much time ago the last post was made in these boxes.

Being a graphic site, better looking smilies wouldn’t hurt =)

You sure you’re not thinking of the code tags? I’ve had those get smilies, I’ve never had a pre tag get a smilie.
