Hi guys. I’ve uploaded my first item and plan to submit more in the future. I have gotten some e-mails from developers inquiring whether I would like to partner up. I was just wondering if anyone here has an experience forming a partnership. What are some factors to consider? What’s your best guesstimate on “average” earnings breakdown between a designer (up to HTML/CSS) and a developer?
Thanks, Park

The sharing formular depends on the roles designer and developer will play. If the designer will just design psds then developer will have the lion share but if the designer will design psd + code it into html/css and developer will convert it into wordpress theme + support then the sharing can be even 50/50.
The partnership may also allow the designer to sell psd and html as sole proprietor.
Thank you for the response. Those are very helpful. How about other CMS or e-commerce platforms?
subwaymatch saidThis depends on how you negotiate with your partner. It can be of any percentage, as long as both parties agree.

However, just a personal note, some people might offer up a partnership when they don’t have that much time to develop the website, hence your time will just be wasted by them. These people just try to ‘grab’ a partnership before others take the opportunity, probably just to reduce the number of competitors (based on what I read in this forum).
Anyway, good luck finding a good partner.
Thanks for the great advice. I will take my time to find a good partner.

By the way, your theme Eventcamp is awesome
Keep up the good work. GLWS.
Thank you for your kind comment
Usually things go PSD 50 – 50 HTML; PSD+HTML 50 – 50 WP+Support. That’s usually the standard “rumoured” around the forums. Good work with Eventcamp!
Thank you am_themes – very helpful. For anyone that might have any ideas, How would splitting up the profits work? Sign a contract and make transfers every month? Any tips would be appreciated.
Thank you, Park

For long term partnership, it is better to create a new account to which both designer and developer will have access. As envato marketplaces allow multiple withdrawals so each partner can withdraw his share just before the end of the moth.
