Just wondering since I am asking for help here what is the best approach to avoid scams from fake flash developers fishing for free stuff.

Thanks.

Go for FlashDen authors rather than other members. Check the author’s star rating for their feedback record.

They may charge a little more but i’m sure you’d do better in the long run

In the online communities reputation is built on activity and time is needed to gain credibility, for authors more than other members….

...we swear to get our badges and good ratings, we need sales, offer quality products and support, to be present and much more…

...for us all these things have a great value and it’s a second to lose everything doing something bad or wrong…

...so go for authors with a lot to lose, and avoid users without any kind of reputation… they have nothing to lose and if something goes wrong they will just disappear in the world wide web…

Thats what I prefer. But they are not always available. I’ve asked bobocel on his own files and he has been great.

Lydian also is a champ. He has done some excellent work for me.

The reason I asked is because in this case I have a file that the author has refused to accomodate the problem.

All you say is nice but the issue here is that a big number of files have been poorly reviewed for quality, os and browser compatibility.

Half the files I have bought in the past month around $600-$700 worth either are useless or I had to spend several hours of my time to fix them or hire someone else to do it. I have spent the same amount of money hiring others to correct files. Besides the fact that every minute I spend of my time costs me a lot more. People who sell should be available immediately when their file has bugs or they should pull their files, unless it is specified that the file works only under these requirements.

I am not talking about additions. I am talking about basic functionality. There are also hundreds of files here that lack basic design skills that should not even be available. All they do is make searching for good stuff harder.
