On external drives. All work past and present, along with sample libraries etc.

Absolutely – my big and expensive sample libraries re backed up on two locations externally. Have £1000’s worth of library on internal SSD’s just does not make me feel secure. I also have backups of the download payloads as well – overkill probably but bad past experiences have made me do this! :)

You can never have enough back ups Graham :) Better to be safe than sorry :) That reminds me I need to do a back up!

Oh, I should’ve chosen coding instead of audio/video production. :D My files are way too big for me to upload them to the cloud backup solutions (at least with my upload speed).

I currently use external hard-drives, but I will definitely have to install NAS, as soon as I figure out where to put it in my already-too-crowded apartment :D

What about Google Drive? It’s fairly cheap for decent storage space, acessible from anywhere in the world with most devices, but when you get banned for whatever reason you lost your drive with e-mail and all the features. Anyone has any experience with them?

As I work on Windows I use Mercurial for versioning (with TortoiseHg GUI), and after I commit any changes I push them to Dropbox (they seem safe there :) ).

Sometimes I also save the repositories from dropbox onto USB stick just in case. :)
