Hey,
Just a quick question. How is OptionTree licensed? To my understanding, it’s open source but does this allow me to strip it of its logo and hard-code it into one of my themes as well as make modifications to the code?
Thanks!

Its a wordpress plugin on wordpress.org – so it has to be GPL as far as I know.
I’m surprised they don’t list a license for it on the WP.Envato site.

That’s not necessary, if the plugin is in the WordPress directory automatically inherits GPL (JS, PHP , Images and PHP ) – also the themes. So go ahead and do your thing but remember buyers should be able to update the plugin easily.

It’s noted on the first page of wp.envato
GPL Compliant since 2009 As the operator of the largest marketplaces for WordPress themes and plugins, Envato is proud to have been GPL compliant since 2009. All themes and plugins sold on Envato Marketplaces have GPL licensed code.

Alex, please be careful with that. Maybe an official staff member can provide some input on this, I already asked this question on a previous thread.
Under what license will the admin panel that uses OptionTree code be? GPL as well?
Alex, if this is true, it probably means that a future unscrupulous author can simply take your theme admin panel as it is and use it in their theme. I think we’ve had several complaints recently about new authors copying large chunks of code of other people’s work.
