I was just curious about the quality control.
Has it made TF better? Is the theme quality good so far? Did any of the authors get more sales before the quality control? Do lot of themes looks similar? Should the quality control be lowered for more themes to be uploaded?
Any opinion would be great!
I think themeforest is getting better every day. The higher approval standards means less files approved but better quality and this way the good designs get more popularity because there are no awful templates to grab the buyers attention.
I can tell you this. Since we launched, our sales have increased each month – substantially. ThemeForest is thriving.
Now obviously, that’s not totally because of the new quality requirements. We only recently announced that we’d be raising standards. It will take some time to see the benefits.
It definitely is getting better. But still I see many amateurish themes getting approved in contradiction.
I don’t know what the catch is. TF knows some of them won’t sell, the author knows it won’t sell. And they still bother with rejections, reuploads, reapprovals, wasting each other’s time.
But at least TF now has a distinct quality line according to it’s first times.
I think I might over design the themes I’m working on in fear of being rejected. No-one likes to be rejected =(.
Even though I still haven’t got them up on here (yet) I still think the bar is set right but there is nothing wrong with pushing to get the absolute best quality on here. The tougher it is = more traffic + more awesome designs + get paid more (maybe).
Edit: Having just looked around the latest submissions I’m not sure that some of them really match the shear quality of some of the other themes on here. Not trying to rain on anybody but a few just look like they are missing final touches and polish!
Is the bar really high enough? Go have a look…
