I am trying since past one year 
(though for some of the ‘polished’ designer/developer My guess would be about 5-10 days for a 5 page template, about 3-4 weeks for wordpress, it could be less than that too if they have lot of snippets and reusable code)

What template do you mean? HTML , WordPress, Joomla!, Magento, Drupal are totally different to estime time needed to spend on.
