Yep, just upgraded to 16GB as well. May be I´ll buy a bigger 256GB SSD for fast access from AJ money.

Hey guys, so I have been wondering about my recent system build. I went from 12GB of 800MHz DDR2 RAM on my 2008 Mac Pro to 64GB of 1600MHz DDR3 RAM in my new Windows System.

Now while this may come across as a vanity thread, it’s not. I would like to know from other composers/authors out there who use industry sample packs just how much RAM you use on average for a full large session.

I currently hit around 20GB Max including system resources of around 2-3GB using libraries from AudioBro, CineSamples, 8Dio, Native Instruments etc.

Will I ever really use 64GB, even with future samples/plugins in the next 4-5 years? Have you guys hit any walls yet?

64GB?????!!!!!!!!!!! I currently use just 8GB from witch 1GB goes to windows, and I do almost full orchestra arrangements with top quality samples! Naturally I use Kontakt’s PURGE function to accomplish that, but I believe that it is practically IMPOSSIBLE to fill 64GB of ram. I was targeting to upgrade at 32GB so that I would never have to worry about ram ever again. Unbelievable…I think you will be ok

I use 2 GB ram for the moment and will probably upgrade to more ram. It forces me to only focus on what I need or to make a sample of the instruments that takes too much ram.
