CUrrently using 8Gb 1600 (4×2GB), thinking about upgrading to 16GB, sometime think this is overkill, and go back to say “Hey, there’s many people use 16GB nowadays”.
Mostly we are (web designer/developers) using multitasking heavily (at least I’m
), when I’m in my full load (Photoshop, Illustrator, code editor, Chrome with about 30 tabs open, iTunes, VirtualBox with 2 Windows VMs running … and little more like TweetDeck some menubar apps), I have about 1.5GB free, less or more.
What about you? what do you think? And much RAM do you use?

4gb seems to be just fine for Windows 7 with Fireworks, Aptana (code editor), Chrome, ftp client, WAPM (virtual apache server), internet radio, messenger client – stuff that runs almost non-stop.
Note: SSD harddrive for windows and installed applications.

how have you made that work?
i have 4×4gb = 16gb because when i put 4×8gb it became unstable.
i have the latest imac, its only a month old and its the i7 version and yet becomes unstable with 32gb of ram.
I also have 16gb on my windows machine
16GB – Recently upgraded 8GBx2(Transcend)
What’s RAM ?
Our systems run on up to 32GB of ram and we have a few 16GB’s. The 16’s are plenty.
