I know a couple of guys own houses and some have built their own home-office in their backyard (which is something I really admire and hope to do one of this fine days) but to the rest of clan that are on rentals, how much do you pay for rent (inclusive of service charge)?
Do you follow any guideline like your rent should not be more than 30% of your gross income?
Personally I’m paying $350 at the moment

350$ means nothing. you should post the city and the country so we can make a better idea of the living cost.

In Poland it would be more or less the same, depends on a place, you could have the same also for 6 USD but in Malaysia I have full dinner with drinks for 6-7 RM which is around 2 USD!

in Serbia it’s usually 300$ for 2 rooms…
I am going to LA in February to live/work and prices are really high… I’ll probably pay around 1500$ for a place in Santa Monica.
