Find a picture that you think has some good colours/tones and using the colour picker tool, start picking some colours out of it. This is also a good website http://colorschemedesigner.com/ if you want to create colour schemes.

picking colors from image is really nice idea, even that didnt come to my mind. Thank you.

You can also get Adobe Kuler as an extension for PS (assuming you use PS for designing) – http://www.adobe.com/bg/products/kuler.html
I didnt know that, yeah i use photoshop. Its a shame i am using it from past 11 years but never knew about kuler in photoshop. I am newbie to designing.
