Hello! I need some advice from any wp theme developer. I am Joomla! CMS developer and now I want to head to develop WP themes. So I am still learning. I have bought few themes from Themeforest and checked that in the theme options panel there are many options included. I want to know how to do these? Do I have to be a PHP expert to do all these? Another question is many of the themeforest WP themes actually not many I think all of them works without any plugin! I mean I want to say that as far as I know suppose I want to add a slideshow on my theme so i have to install plugin for that. But on these themes slider works without any plugin to be installed! I assume that may be the theme authors have hard-coded the plugin codes in the theme it self that’s why it works without installing the plugins individually? Am I right? If I’m right then please tell me how to do these? and if I’m not right then please correct me. My last question is I have also seen the authors have included many options to control the slider options or any other hard coded plugin! How shall I do that? Please any expert WP author reply me with answers I will be really really grateful to you. Thank you.

Here’s a few tutorials to get you started.

I just wanted to point out that Create a Settings Page For Your WordPress Theme and Extended WordPress Settings API Tutorial have major issues and should not be considered good examples of theme settings pages.

The other tutorials look pretty solid though based on a quick look-through.
