We have a theme in the soft-rejected pile partly because of the global variable called $data in our theme which is from SMOF (slightly modified options framework).

global $data;

This is required to print out the values of the options, but seeing as $data is a very generic variable this is a potential problem and we have been asked by our reviewer to fix that.

I know this is a popular options framework for theme devs here so I’m wondering what measures you guys have taken to fix this problem in your themes? One option is obviously to prefix the variable name but how do we do that and still make sure the options are working?

Hi,

Reading this email to determine handling $data (used in older versions of Avada Theme) with the new $smof_data used in (Avada Theme 3.7.1).

The link referenced above https://github.com/sy4mil/Options-Framework/issues/198 takes me to a 404 page.

Any additional answers on this subject?

Thanks.
