So I’m a recent high school graduate, soon to be going to college (for IT management). Naturally, I want to get a job in the field I’m interested in (web design/development), but the problem is that all available positions require several years of experience and a mountain of degrees/certificates. I have none of those. But, I do have a pretty decent understanding of web development. I know PHP, HTML, JS and Wordpress (granted, I’m only self-thought) and I have already worked for several clients (whom I found on oDesk) as a web dev, although it was never really an official position. Then again, this hardly meets the requirements for an actual position.

I assume many of you here work or have worked in web development, so I would be very grateful if you could share some of your experience with me and perhaps give me some wisdom of how to break into the field.

Thanks.
