I quit 3 weeks ago after a nasty viral throat infection. I couldn’t smoke while I was sick and just continued not to smoke. I’ve been a smoker for 20 years and very happy to have kicked the habit. Prices for pack of cigs in Australia are over $15 and will be around $17.50 after Dec 1 so saving money as well as getting healthier.

Congrats man! Yeah, cigs in Australia are crazy expensive.. Same goes for NZ & the U.K. Good incentive to stop though! Unfortunately a pack runs you about a buck over here (indo) which doesn’t help the process. Still, I’ve pretty much managed to quit by being a lot more active and eating really well. This stops the urge for me…

I quit 5 months ago after smoking for nearly 15 years. Don’t be afraid to read books about it – they will change your perspective and give you ideas on how you can formulate a quitting plan for yourself. I had tried everything, and quit cold turkey. First, I prepared myself months beforehand by switching to organic cigarettes. They didn’t taste as good and were expensive, but I was getting off of all of the horrible additives, so that when I was ready it was a oral and nicotine addiction. Learning that smokers live in a constant state of withdrawal was a saddening eye opener that helped me focus on quitting. I set a week aside where i was not in a stressful environment. I was able to condense the withdrawal period by eating a highly acidic and special diet. I drank a lot of pomegranate juice, orange juice and ate a lot of walnuts (oil) and granola. I did a lot of researched into detox foods before I started. The few months of smoking organic cigarettes also served as a mental preparation. If you use ecigs, or the patch, or gum… You’re not fixing the problem. You’re still addicted to the drug and will still be living in a constant state of withdrawal. Look into Alan Carr’s book, it sheds a unique light on the situation. Preparation was everything for me. Best of luck and don’t give up :)
