I get this a lot but have not been able to figure it out. I see contact form validation using ajax that something like this

url: contact.php

that is the shortcut version. but it works in html but when I try it on a WordPress site, it only works if I put the absolute url. How do you solve this issue?

use a pre-built plugin such as contact form 7 which has the ajax requirements and is easy enough to customise to your needs.

Don’t reinvent the wheel ;)

I learnt this the hard way, and can’t agree more!

I took your advice. I tried the plugins. Ninja forms and contact form 7. I have decided that contact form 7 is the best way to go. Easier to use and easier to customize the form fields.

Thanks for the advice
