Definitely agree with you SimonSwiss & Graphic4444
My work time is my work time (Mon – Fri, 9 – 5.30) any time out of that is family time.
After 5.30 I go and help with the boys; dinner, play, bath, stories and then bed.
Once they are settled I’ll usually sit in the lounge with my laptop (while the wife watches rubbish on tv, or we might stick a film on).
When my eldest was a baby (before his 1st birthday) I also had 1 day a week where I would look after him and take him out places, just the 2 of us.
I think it’s just as important for dad’s to make an effort and build a connection with their children as it is for mums.
Here’s to all the mum and dad authors (and Envato customers) out there x
great thread. I usually lock my room and put my headphone on my ears and all gets peaceful. I don’t know if this will work for you or not
Beautiful Kids, I Can hear my 3 Years Old Son Coming Up the Stairs, i quickly Lock the Screen and Prepare myself to welcome him, he comes up gradually opens the door and if he knows i saw him he probably want to go to another room and if i am listening to something and didn’t see him, he will come and start throwing books around, he love books and start counting papers, LOL.
When i work from home i start yelling at my wife downstairs, Hun please take him i just need couple of hours to finish this plugin, and she yells back , PLUG OUT AND PLAY WITH YOUR SON xD
The only way for me is to work after midnight up to 5AM.
I have 4 children and for the last 5 months I have been working from home, needed to cut costs to afford a nice deposit for our new home.
Anyway, I find that if I put my earphones on and listen to music while I work, it relaxes me and drowns out any noise in the background, which leaves me to get on with my work.
To be fair 3 are at school from 8:40am till 3:30pm so only 1 child is running around all day. But come 3:30pm and school holidays the headphones come in excellent.
I advise getting quality headphones, I have Beats By Dre Studio headphones.
They seem to drown out any background noise without having the volume on full blast.
I’ve got two kids under two. It’s certainly fun.!
My office was recently converted into baby #2 bedroom. I only get to work about an hour in the middle of the day and a little bit after 9pm.
Currently building a new schedule to improve this a little
My aim is to eventually leave the house for at least 3 hours each day. There’s a nice coworking joint down the road and a library nearby too.
