HTML approved, WP version rejected

Hello, guys!

Did it happened to you that the HTML version of a theme got approved and the WP version of it – not? I mean, the same design and templates and stuff – for the reason of: “not meet our approval standards and will need to be significantly improved before being reviewed again”.

I’m trying understand the mechanics of the approval process here.. Well, there are different approval standards for HTML and WP sections?

It happened to me as well. Just email the sitemanager and explain that the HTML was already accepted. He’ll then talk to the WP reviewer and you may just upload your item again. Atleast that’s how it went for me.

The approval standards are the same, one of them is that it’s coded properly.

But in the WordPress theme apart from the HTML you have PHP and WordPress development, they need to be coded properly too.

Quick note. With HTML templates, only the aesthetics and code quality is taken under consideration. With WordPress, a wider variety of criteria are considered. The expected quality of a WordPress theme has been rising steadily due to the influx of incredible themes brimming with features.

I’m not specifically saying that’s the reason for the rejection but merely noting that while the aesthetic expectations are shared between site templates and WordPress themes, the review process itself varies by a non-trivial amount. Just because a design got approved into the site template category doesn’t necessarily mean that it’ll automatically get into the other as well.

So, if your PSD has been recently accepted, it won’t need design approval again in the HTML or WordPress category. If your HTML template was recently accepted, it may not meet the aesthetic requirements of the WP category.

Generally this isn’t an issue, but it does happen occasionally.

So how i can actually evaluate for any HTML template to convert it to Wordpress version, by asking the Wordpress reviewer ? because it’s so hard to work to convert a HTML template to Wordpress and at final it will not approved.

If you’re worried that it might not be accepted in WP form, you can certainly ask a reviewer.
