Of course you might not like Artisticca’s design, it’s a matter of “personal taste” :D I love it!

I don’t dislike it, and I agree it’s graphically an improvement on the current design.

But it doesn’t fix the majority of issues others have reported, which aren’t simply cosmetic.

It’s ok, but it’s distracting this thread from the real issue which is that the multiple levels of navigation are unintuitive and confusing for new, and existing users.

Stick a bundle offer banner and a ‘latest Envato millionaire author’ up there as well and anyone viewing the site on anything other than a large monitor will have to hunt for the page content at the bottom of their screen.

The current menu architecture requires more than a simple graphic fix.

I don’t have a problem with navigation, as a matter of fact I think that’s great idea, so other marketplaces are exposed too, I just don’t like the current design of it, and I think Artisticca’s design is much better, minimalistic, in time with current trends. (No offense envato)

looks great (at least is refreshing the old website design without losing identity – if website color identity remains)

so… any news here? The more days go by, the more this header is starting to bug me, too. I automatically want to push one of the logos instead of the menu, which now seems kinda invisible. Going through the site is very weird now.

so a +1 to familychoice, VF and digitalscience from me.

Only reason I lose time dissecting this is because sales got downhill from the time this header showed up.

Don’t know what user interface specialist envato have but is obviously it doesn’t know his job and should be fired. Let me tell you why.

I think the envato marketplaces logo at top left is part of the problem.

If you click it you get to the landing page.

When I’m on videohive and I click on that logo and you need to send me to the landing page (which is another issue we should discuss) but, if you send me there at least put the search bar on the videohive files option!

Is UX interface ABC. Is what you should know from day one of your job.

SO

Regardless of what marketplace you are coming off you will always end up on themeforest option.

If you are careful you will probably try to select the option pertaining to what you want to find.

If for themeforest “wordpress themes” are the “main” files for videohive is After Effects templates.

Guess what the option to search these After effects templates are?

Footage & Motion Graphics

are you kidding me? footage is the first term? Motion Graphics? (that’s another type of footage, footage means video made with a camera motion graphics means video made with the computer like 3D animation – this is the definition of terms by looking at videohive categories not what they actually means)

this option show absolutely lack of knowledge of each marketplace and their main product. After Effects files should be the first term there

BUT

if you are not careful you will just write the terms you are searching without changing the default option for the search bar, like “logo intro” and you get to this

If you don’t know the marketplaces, files type, software and the rest, you may assume there’s nothing around here.

If you know, then you have to come back to landing page, lose time to select the option you want (assuming you know that After Effects files are hidden inside “Footage & Motion Graphics” option and search again

Themeforest got lucky because is the default option, the rest of us nope.

Let’s not forget about the extra microlancer banner at the top! Now 50% of my page is filled with banners and menus! On the author dashboard, where the most important things are the user comments, I can no longer see even the first comment without scrolling! Isn’t that amazing?

One thing Envato devs seem not to be considering, is that someone new to the market place, will have no idea what all these logos are – simple links to individual market places actually telling users what they can find on them would be a much better idea – Browse Videos, Browse Scripts, Browse Themes, Browse Audio…

Those of us that have been using the marketplaces for a while, really don’t need the blinding brand flashing right on the top, getting in the way of actually browsing the site. We know it’s in the footer, we can also quite happily spell all of them correctly in the address bar.

Think you really should sit down and re-think whom the changes are aimed at, what it really is that you are trying to achieve (assuming it’s more then cheap, aggressive marketing) and only then decide on how to achieve it in a comprehensive, noninvasive way.

Irritating your users is a little counter productive. The last few days I found myself simply searching for items via Google – if there is one that’s suitable on any of your marketplaces, hopefully I will be pointed to it, if not, there are more and more alternatives out there, I didn’t even realized that until recently.

And last, there are some serious key features missing from all of your sites that make using it more and more cumbersome as your portfolio grows. Coupled with a messed up design, general lowering of standards of what gets accepted, complete lack of consequence for authors that take items off the site the moment support questions start to overwhelm them despite assuring buyers of said support pre sales; somewhat biased top/elite author schemes that most long term Envato buyers simply learned to not pay any attention to, and it all starts to look like not such a great place to shop anymore.

I’d rather pay more for quality service straight to an author, then go through a marketplace that repeatedly chooses to ignore these bits of user feedback that require investing some money back into the business.

Truth is, both authors and buyers can do business fine without you via other means, even if at a slower rate – you on the other hand, will have no business at all without us. Paying a bit more attention to the criticism and less to the praises is generally a very good idea when it comes to feedback.
