Add to this, I have never been on TF and thought, dang I really need XYZ from CC, before I complete my purchase.

It never ever happens, I would argue not one buyer buys in this way in actuality.

So in essence buyer finds theme, buyer buys theme end of. If buyer wants plugin, buyer comes to CC, buys plugin, then goes back to TF and forgets wtf it was.

< rant over >

This really depends on the buyer and the marketplace. Just last week I was working on a client’s site and I was using watermarked images from PD. That way I could narrow down what images the client liked before making my purchases. In that case, I was looking to buy over 10 photos and wished I could have bought them at once.

This is not always the case, like you said… but to say ‘never’ is too extreme. Again, it would just depend on the buyer and marketplace. I could see this sort of thing happening when buying from TF and grabbing some stock photos to fill it in at the same time.

For me as a regular website user this whole set of changes was awful experience. This 2-3 days I literally was like the “Alice in Wonderland”.

I constantly missclicking menus, categories,...it seems that I cannot find anything. Since home page is anyway terribly organized and nothing is visible as it should be I was using menu on the left side of the page(IIRC), which leaded to the “List Page of new items” view. That was more suitable way of browsing files for me.

And you should listen more for some guys on the forums. You have some really talented (and genious) peoples around here. Some of them (Like Revaxarts in example)coded some uber-helpful stuff and you didn`t even make it some kinda official.
I am “lurking” around this forum for past 3 years and since English is not my mother language it is very painful for me to write (Grammar is killing me). Anyway the were some ideas and sugestions that were deserved Nobel Prize and statue of that person. And You,...You were only ignoring them.

When I`m speaking as an VideoHive author, for me personaly, VideoHive website is in a state as it was when I first register on it. I cant remember any useful feature that was implemented and made me go:”Yaaaaaay!”. We are begging you for the VideoRollovers for the last 3 years. Guys, your “pipeline” have some serious leakage somewhere and better send some team of welders to fix that, since most of the competitors sites have fixed those leaks.
Remember, briliant authors around here keeps you running and sometimes you should listen to them.

Peace out, and sorry for my bad English. ;)

P.S. seems that a regular web user can`t make those line-breaks.

where did this idea even come from? I’m very curious.

We’ve been conducting buyer research (surveys, interviews, diary studies). Buyers frequently work on projects that require items from more than one of the eight marketplaces.

This prompted us to look at the data and plan a few small, experimental projects like this to see if we can serve that need better. These forums are a goldmine of valuable insights from a passionate portion of the community, but they can’t be the only factor in our decision making.

Sad to see our research comes to the conclusion that,

- The buyers doesn’t need deep search filters but need multiple marketplace items first?
- The researches doesn’t point that buyers need to purchase multiple items with single transaction?
- The research about rating comments/feedback doesn’t end up a new feature?
- But when it comes to overall sales attempt, all the metrics comes to support it suddenly.

My rant is over permanently here. Concretely – it is waste of time to give forum feedback.

Has anyone considered the fact that the update is easier to navigate on a mobile device? I always had to zoom in on the drop down menu to use it. This considerably easier on a tablet than the old site, don’t you think?

Just tried the site on my iPhone and it is much better than the old site! Great Job!

If this is all about buyers buying multiple items from multiple marketplaces, why is there no shopping cart? Am I the only one that sees this feature massively boosting sales? I know you can’t just wave a wand and instantly have a shopping cart but you should start putting a team together and start discussing the idea at least.

Well look someone who is looking for stock photography doesn’t necessarily need code canyon files, or 3D ocean files. Actually the chances are pretty slim.

I don’t think what mentioned is the reason. The real reason, is because ThemeForest gets a huge amount of traffic, so Envato’s idea was to put the menu on the top for all marketplaces, to boost more exposure to the other marketplaces. That makes more logical sense, hence why Envato is tracking the “metrics”

You know there are other ways to promote other marketplaces.. for example when you’re browsing 3D files, you could have an advert on the side saying “Hey check out Audio Jungle if you need music for your 3D Project” This would be a way better idea to customize the content based 1) Target audience 2) The type of stock being viewed.

Show things like, “People who viewed this, also viewed this item” This is what other sites do, why can’t Envato think out the box more. There’s so much potential to make an amazing marketplace.

Yeh this change makes sense then, because mobile viewing was always priority. :? It’s quite amazing how we try find ways to justify the menu. ;)

By the way , the same user released 3 items in the last three days.
How am I going to compete with that? With this much overflooding?

With the current structure , envato pushes authors to upload faster and faster , and this will kill the uniqueness of the item portfolios in the long run(or maybe in the short run). Same, same and same over and over again.

One of the best pieces of advice I’ve read in this entire thread. I still don’t see why we can’t have what you just suggested whilst keeping the new menu introduced.

We looked at the analytics and found that while existing signed-in members frequently use the site switcher and the footer to navigate between the marketplaces, only a tiny number of new visitors use them (and they were more likely to use the footer links, which are more visible).

Some of you are redesigning yet another dropdown menu. Others have suggested fading out all menu items and keeping only the active menu in full opacity. Why ? The issue is one of branding and bringing the marketplaces closer. The menu items need to be visible in plain sight. This is what the research conducted shows.

Others have said we need a shopping cart and this change makes no sense without. On the contrary, to me it seems we’re headed exactly there. They appear to have started with enforcing the Envato brand (new logo ), SSO ( single sign-on), a new hub site and now the current step is brand consolidation across the board.

There have been many updates recently but these specific updates seem connected and IMO lead to a shopping cart, so let’s not get ahead of ourselves. Give it time.
