anyway, it will be nice if data resulting from this header experiment can help me invent a strategy to get back my sales where they were. how user behavior changed and what I need to do to improve my items visibility? when we can be informed about some data about this?

As far as I can see, sales are down because the amount of new authors and competition has gone up hugely. Older authors showed the potential for earning here, and now the rest of the world has joined the party. So the only way to keep your sales how they were before would be to upload ever more incredibly awesome work. Which counts me out unfortunately. :D

@tovio – you missed the point. many authors sales have dropped right when the header changes went live. Buyers are getting distracted by clicking on other marketplaces and not buying the item they originally found in their Google search.

What WebSmacker said, the number of menus and banners and notices and graphics at the top of the site are distracting. A week later and they’re still distracting me. I’m not browsing the site as much because it isn’t a pleasurable experience.

Previously it was easy – there’s a menu link for WP plugins on the themes page, and one for themes on the plugins page. Now I’m distracted by that big horrible logo bar with meaningless icons which draws your eye to it.

I’ve been here years and I have to come here to buy stuff on a regular basis for our business, check out updates and new products, but if I was a new, casual visitor I doubt I’d bother to return – too much like hard work.

Are Envato taking any notice of the feedback they’re getting here, or are they too busy ordering more funky furniture for their funky office?

I agree, I find the header distracting myself. And my sales are flat-lined since the header came online. Without any stats we can’t really say anything for sure though.

The fact that there are now 4 menus above the name of an item now concerns me. It feels like the marketplace is seen as more important than the actual item.

I think we should be able to link to an item specific page that removes many of the un-needed menus and headings.

You should be able to purchase an item with 1 click from the item page without needing to manually sign up etc.

None of the changes made seem like an improvement for authors, way too much is going on.
