Great! I like this design!

I saw the changes lately, but I would change some other details too. I had some free time and tried something myself: (open it in a new tab).

I posted it on dribbble too. http://dribbble.com/shots/1339615-Envato-Marketplaces
Now that’s how you do it :D
It definitely is, that’s right there a great design that gives a nice flat feeling.Well done !

Love that. Except for the circles and the top menu is a bit too big, but.. hey.. is ages above the current one!

I think Envato Should Start a Most Wanted Competition for the Homepage :-)

Hello guys, thanks a lot for the comments, I appriciate that you liked it.

I study design at academy, but the real schools for me were tuts and envato networks. I spend most of my time here, working almost full time in several usernames with different buddy programmers.

Wow Artisticca’s design looks awesome :) Great ideas.

I still think though that the welcome block is too big vertically, new files are “below the fold” in the browser, so it’s important to reduce the top section of the page. Plus I think it would be a good idea to put the marketplace logo in there, to help each marketplace standout as different. Also we could have more interesting things in the welcome, like imagine “sales graphs for the week” or “last file purchased, click to download” or “your last file sold was xxxx” It could more like an author / buyer dash board showing some quick info.

And then at the bottom, I think featured author has way too much exposure considering there are millions of authors. I would split that into two sections, featured author.. and maybe something like “top selling files for the day”

Thanks for the comment man.

As I said on dribbble, this wasn’t a concept, just a refresh of the actual desgin. So there are no new features that I would add or modify, just changes in the ui. Which means, that there’s a lot of place adding new stuff and changing the current one. I missed out some details though, because I was late for college and wanted to upload it asap :P

Cheers!

The new header area is a navigational nightmare – commented on it in another thread and was pointed to this one. The links to the different marketplaces really are where menu should be. Not entirely sure why the most prominent links are those that lead you away from the site altogether.

Visually, it looks squeezed in, crowded. Even the drop downs look worse though can’t point exactly to the differences, as I only remember the previous ones were prettier.

If it ain’t broken…..

No worries! What you did there is perfect for a reskin, but overall the old layout needs some tweaking. But this is one of the best redesigns of the homepage I’ve seen, it looks far more professional to the current design. Good work!

Sorry to spoil the love-in but how is that design any better than the current design? It has some less obtrusive logos but apart from a too-tall footer it still has exactly the same issues as the current design.

The issue with the existing header is that there are too many menus and a very confused navigational architecture, changing the logos slightly isn’t going to fix that.
