Hi folks, I know there are lots of same thread but it’s very strange what happens to me. In March, I uploaded some new files (sounds and musics) and I was very optimistic cause from the day after I uploaded them, I start selling one per day, and it goes on for a week: I started my Pc and I found one more sale everyday. After a week, TOTAL STOP . Very strange I think, the only reason that I could think to, is that, when you upload new file, they are at the top of the list, or in new items page, so even if peole isn’t searching for that sound or music, and if they like your one, they’ll buy for a future moment. So what I suggest is: is it possible to create a way to put your items at the top of the list? Or, what you suggest me about this matter? Thank you ;) Ciao

Hi, yes… There are lots of posts like this and I have started one or two myself. I have only just come out of a 22 day drought myself. It is frustrating, annoying, humiliating…. All the crappy words in the English dictionary (and Italian), but you need to just keep writing, improving and trying to spot trends. It is a business, a saturated one too, so that means you need to work on promotion and marketing and not only writing, yup you’ve heard it all before. Almost a 60-40 split (60% music, 40% promotion) should be devoted to marketing! I see you are not on Twitter, or Vimeo, or many other social networks…? You need to get on it mate!

With just 19 files you can’t really cover all styles, genres, feels… etc, and expect sales like soundroll (92 files). I think you should put more music.
Also, with absolutely no intention to criticize or offense, I was listening some of your files and some of your melodies sound a bit random to me. Your “Renaissance Love” have no chord progressions typical for Renaissance, no rhythms used in that period and I don’t have the feeling that harmony is following the melody. Actually in “Sweet Love” I hear things that according to classical theory would be considered clashes.

Dear Mihai Sorohan, I can’t be offended only because I know what I’ve done and everything you listen remember that I want it in that way, indeed I suggest you to inform better before writing a so detailed analysis of musical form. If you read my profile, I’ve written that I’d like to experiment in my composition. Anyway, I’d better prefer a “don’t like your music” than a music lesson Bye

I just wanted to help.
Maybe a marketplace is not the best place to experiment. Here customers come with certain expectations and they want the music to fit to their project, which might not be art projects but some advertising, games, websites…etc.
I like also to experiment but I keep those experiments away from my AJ page.

You can also try to advertise on Soundcloud, there are two groups that you can join:

I know that you wanted to help, but you just “exagerate” a little bit about following rules without knowing anything about me, also because I don’t think that my items are so so difficult to listen, or so “unpleasing”. Anyway, thank you for tha Soundcloud link, I’ll join the groups. ;)

There’s no logic in the amount of sales, that’s a fact. I’ve been selling my music here for almost a year now, and I’ve seen months with over 100 sales, and months with only 20 sales. Of course you should promote your work in any way you can, but that won’t guarantee more sales. It helps, though.

I’ve listened to some of your work and I think it’s good for sale here, so don’t worry about that.

The key here is to be happy with any sale you have, and don’t expect too much.

Its not the number of items, its really making the ones you do make count. I would rather put more time and effort into a few killer songs than flood the market place(which we dont need) with 200 tracks that either all sound the same or are just low quality because your just trying to push stuff out. I have seen a new author come in and make 1 killer song that goes on to sell more than someone that has been here a while with 200 plus tracks. If you do this over time you will have a large portfolio of quality and in the long run you will be very happy.

Just make music that people need. open your ears when watching tv and commercials there are certain trends that = $$$ If it is indeed experimental type music you want to do I would put your stuff on youtube or soundcloud.
