I have an idea to add in “sort by” – “last update”
+1 – This is actually not a bad idea at all. A lot of people are spending time working on updates on their older themes, and those who keep updated themes even after 1 year should be able to benefit from this.
- Sold between 50 000 and 100 000 dollars
- Community Moderator
- Referred between 1000 and 1999 users
- Author had a File in an Envato Bundle
- Most Wanted Bounty Winner
- Item was Featured
- Author was Featured
- Contributed a Tutorial to a Tuts+ Site
Under downloads there is “Recent Updates”
I don’t think he meant that. I think he meant ordering them by the date of the last update if you’re looking to buy a theme not if you’ve bought one and want to check for updates.
Cheers
But if you like an item and you are preparing to buy it you can see the Last update on it’s page. It’s useless to sort by update.
No it’s not. The whole point of this was to motivate authors to update their themes, especially if they contain bugs. Most authors forget about their themes after 3-4 months if they are not featured and so on, and it would definitely improve the marketplace’s quality if the items would be updated more often, especially in the case of older items (1 year, even more). You make an update and you’re “on the first page” again, but on the update first page.

Why you think it will motivate authors to do an updates? To be first in this filter? This has no point, nobody search items depend on the time of the last update.
Imagine how many updates approved daily? I think more than hundred. So in the end this is just like adding a filter for the item with most recent comments – no sense at all.
I have an idea to add: “sort by countries”
“sort by countries”?
You mean the country where the item was made, the country where the author has born, the country what the author choose in his profile,
or the country where the author actually lives? I think its totally irrelevant.
