What about multilanguage item descriptions?

I’m planning on running PPC campaigns for my future items and it would be nice to be able to specify the a specific landing page for an item.

Basically the url would look like this:

http://activeden.net/item/pocket-christmas-card/133691?lang=et&ref=evolutionx

(“et” for Estonian)

On the item page flag icons can be used for the user to switch between descriptions.

Just some food for thought ;)

Google Translate is bad and useless :D Have you tried translating anything with it and gotten anything decent out?

No one I know has..

Not to mention it is far from convenient to translate pages this way.

I tried, using google chrome, who does the translation on the fly. Is very good for those exotic languages that can’t be grasped so easily, like Japanese or Greek.

not a good idea. The devs have to translate a lot of languages, and have to keep it uptodate. The devs have better things to do, there are a lot of things that are more important than an translation.

maybe because you already know that language :) and you can confront the original with the translation.

Me, even if I read something strange I take it seriously, as we all know that those japanese people are a little “different” from the rest of us (like in the good way, :) I’m a big fan of japanese culture)

This is a international market and it’s hard to handle all the language requests from buyers around the world. If you want to write something in the language you want, it’s better that you do it by yourself :)

well, i could have said english -> italian or italian -> french but the fact is still the same! google tr. is just a word converter and no one should take it. as serious!

no real at all. the japanese is one of the world’s simplest and more logical languages. learning grammar is like a game for children and they are able to express complex concepts just using a bunch of words. true story. unfortunately google tr. is not able to give us a good or at least nice translation because they use ideograms and no space between words (as the whole asian languages). anyway, caparezza says “dicono che gli arabi scrivono al contrario; mohammed ha detto che io scrivo al contrario”. so no differences, just different point of views : )

I’m a big fan of japanese culture

happy to hear that!

sorry for the ot. i give my +1 for the multilanguage description only as long as the author write it by himself (“add new language” button could be a solution)
