I just bought a wordpress theme. I am going to be installing it on a live site shortly. Before I do that, I thought I would copy the existing database and files and set up the site on my computer using wamp to see how the new template will work with the existing database. That way, if I need to change the length of posts, or do anything else, I can map that out on my computer then make the changes on the live site all at once. The problem is that every time I try to access the admin area on the localhost, it takes me to the real sites admin area. Got any idea how to get around this. I have tried

http://localhost/sitename/wp-admin

and the admin button on the site.

Well i guess since u have taken a back up of ur DB its beacuse of that its taking you to your original site, i belive u need to make changes in that.
