which statistics were used to get these figures?

the 2 web sites I maintain are predominantly IE with IE8 leading the way and a fairly large percentage of IE6 users. so dropping IE6 supoort really does depend on your audience, not on general usage stats. I guess if we used these stats we would drop support for Chrome, Safari, and the other small ones as well, cause they are not big enough.

in the end, look after your customers and they will look after you, regardless of which browser they use.

That’s an excellent point, I mean it is in the compatability box thing but having it on the Item Description is a good idea for those casual scanners lol.

These browsers already support standards, IE6 does not. There’s nothing to drop.
