Good thing ie6 is not mandatory anymore. However I will still offer full(or almost) compatibility with this browser to my future products. There’s still a long way to go until we’ll get rid of it for good.

Hooray!!!
That is the best news I’ve gotten all day! I really think its a good move and a step in the right direction.
As a template buyer I must say: Bad news. Not one of my customers has less then fifty percent IE-Users. Too bad, I know. But now I don’t only have to look if I like a template, I also must carefully proof if it is IE6 compatible or not. Very bad for me.

All the good authors will compensate for IE6 – don’t worry for us is good because with IE6 compatibility the theme will sell more
Yes. Now let the coding begin!
sounds good but I wonder if this will increase authors sales or decrease it? only time will tell, no?
The stats (taken from http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp ) do favor FF a lot… “W3Schools is for training only. We do not warrant the correctness of its content.”
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_web_browsers#Summary_Table
(yeah wiki is all made up stuff… just use it for the links on that table to find the truth)
I thought FF some how became the #1 browser with the stats shown here, but sadly it is still second to MSIE (if you count IE7 and IE8 together… 3rd if you don’t).
1 Internet Explorer 7.0 19.33%
2 Internet Explorer 8.0 19.06%
3 Firefox 3.5 18.74%
(taken from http://w3counter.com/globalstats.php )
Also, a side note: http://www.thecounter.com/stats/2009/December/browser.php LOL

Great news!
I think it was ridiculous to force authors to make items IE6 compatible.
It’s the same as having to support Opera 8 or Firefox 1… come on, it’s two versions behind.
I know there are plenty of IE6 users but hey… it’s not our fault for their IQ status.
Thanks, Envato, I felt great when I read “If you want to make a statement, and help bring down the fall of IE6 !”
Yes!
