He also invented the first commercially available digital watch (“The Black Watch”) which I drooled over, but ( luckily, in retrospect) I could not afford the (then) exorbitant price of £24.95 (about 2 week’s wages for me in those days)

I used to program in Basic before Sinclair and then for it. Also witnessed the first appearance on IBM PC XT !!! mighty 7Mghz processor!!!!

You were lucky! My first IBM PC was only 4.7 MHz :( (and no hard drive -just dual 1.4Mb floppy disk drives – one for DOS and the other for apps) ..and--if memory serves--just 640kb of RAM (pun intended)
