Hey there,
I am thinking about learning AE and I got a real basic query. Is my system strong enough to cope with AE CS4 and will it handle videohive project files well?
Here is my computer specs:
Mac OSX : 10.6.8
Processor: 3.06 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
Memory: 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 (I have 1 slot available)
Thank you!

Just downloaded the free file of the month and ran a Ram preview and it is taking a very long time….I am guessing my computer isn’t up to the task or is it not configured correctly?
Thanks again

Your computer’s fine. After Effects often takes long to render. You’ll find it goes much faster with CS5 and above. 64bit, don’t ya know?
You need to know a few tricks about After Effects too. There are a million ways to make a RAM preview go faster. Resolution, Draft 3D, Skip Frames, Layer Quality, Proxies etc. (okay five or six. A million was an exagerration). CS6 has a whole new way of handling memory and caching too.
That’s the fun of learning Ae. Gotta know its quirks.
Thanks for the info felt! This is most helpful. I was thinking about signing up to CS6 sing adobes monthly subscription scheme. Then I will see how I go for a couple of months.

Is CS4 , it will not use more than 4Gb of ram,
also switch the preview quality to quarter you will get faster ram previews
