Do you guys think we’ll see an iMac refresh before Lion comes out? I’m really in need of a desktop computer, and my 24” iMac is in a different part of the world now.
According to this http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#iMac we’re supposed to wait. Wondering how long.
I wish a 30” one will be available, and they ditch the part under the screen. Also I wish they make it thinner, faster and more powerful.
What do you think? Will we see one in April maybe?

They might be releasing it together with Lion.. Considering the iPad 2 has just been released as well I don’t think it would be earlier than halfway in April.
It’ll definitely be faster & more powerfull – not sure if they can thin it down much more for the current price
A 30 ” seems like a bit much, but who know..
The new iMac is bound to be pretty great
I’m guessing on new features in Lion that the new iMac will take full advantage of. I don’t think Apple will be introducing touch to the iMac, but you never know…
anyhoo, I think it’s worth the wait
1000,- sure is a lot

Wow. That’s bigger than my current TV.
Can you really work with such screen from a normal desktop distance?

They once stated they researched this intensively and concluded that you just don’t want to touch a vertical surface
Touch is one of the things that’ll definitely not come with the new iMac.

My dad’s boss bought a 27” but then returned it because his neck started to hurt from the looking back and forth

I think touch screen is something that will be embedded sooner or later. But not for the next 3-4 generations.
As for no bottom part, that will sure make them look cooler, but probably not gonna happen too soon either.Giving up a basic part of the design would damage the image they’ve created for desktops , because when you think of an iMac you see a display with a plastic/aluminium bottom part under and that is how one should look.
But I am sure we will see some new core tech, maybe the new 6 core CPU from intel that’s been rumored about lately.

Wacom will sure get mad if they release something like that.
I would not expect an update until late september.

“We’ve done tons of user testing on this, and it turns out it doesn’t work. Touch surfaces don’t want to be vertical. It gives great demo but after a short period of time, you start to fatigue and after an extended period of time, your arm wants to fall off. it doesn’t work; it’s ergonomically terrible.”
I strongly doubt there will ever be a vertical touch screen from Apple. When Jobs says stuff with that much certainty..
