As most of you know, we currently offer two licenses on CodeCanyon. The standard single usage license is what most buyers are familiar with. However, for the circumstances which require redistribution of the item in question, we also have an extended license, which, up until now, has been priced at 25x the cost of the item. As such, the extended license for a $25 item would cost $625.
The truth is, this cost proved to be far beyond what the huge majority of our buyers were willing to pay. For example, if you purchased a WordPress JS slider, and wanted to integrate it into your custom theme for ThemeForest, you’d need to buy the extended license for the slider. Needless to say, $250 (assuming a $10 slider) is too much, and we understand that.
Beginning today, we’re dropping the rates from 25x all the way down to the far more attractive 5-7x. What this means is that you can fully expect to receive substantially more extended license sales each month!
New Extended License Rates
- HTML5 : 5x
- CSS : 5x
- PHP : 5x
- JavaScript :5x
- Plugins : 7x
- .NET : 7x
Please let me know if you have any questions/concerns about these changes.

Excellent! While the idea of getting an extended sale priced at 25x is awesome, I have a feeling we’re a lot more likely to see extended license purchases with these new rates.
This sounds great! 5 – 7 times more than the standard cost is very reasonable!
The marketplaces just seem to keep getting better and better for authors. New rates – now this!

Absolutely. Technically, your items are worth the 25x fee for the extended license, as it grants the buyer a fair bit of flexibility with your item. However, as I mentioned, the truth is that these new rates will prove to be far more profitable for all involved.
Sounds good to me
Under the Extended License, can someone purchase my application, add a feature, remove a feature, and then resell it for whatever they want?
Awesome.
When are theses set to take effect? I’m not seeing them up yet…..
I see that the new items already have this new future. (posted today) But the older items doesn’t. Do we have to make some settings in our dashboard ?
