No, it isn’t a joke, he seems to be getting enough money together to launch a probe to Mars in the next couple of years.

Then we will see an entrepreneurs view of Mars not a gov, agency!

Probably the 12th DEC 2012 survival kit websites were commercially successful. Now comes another one to make profit out of pure belief. Obviously they have a Merchandise page to sell stupidity.

haha, even the T-Shirts and Coffee mugs sold on there aren’t guaranteed for quality :D

This was also in our TV News and there were some ppl from NASA speaking about it very seriously. I don’t know if this page is somehow official, but I think that those ppl won’t be choosen via internet. They will need specialists to settle there :)

Can’t see any reason why it wouldn’t be real, if we’d heard twenty years ago that Richard Branson would be launching Virgin Galactic for private trips into space, then we probably would have thought it was some kind of joke.

As for specialists to settle there, I kind of agree. But they’ll still need your average guy on the street. Some mission specialist isn’t going to want to run the shop, or the local bar, or clean the floors on the colony. And you’ll need police, some kind of government/leadership, counselors, doctors, dentists, musicians, options, someone to run the gym, a bank etc.

I think psychological testing will be key though… you don’t want somebody going a bit loopy and opening the window!
