I like to have a bit of background music as I work – it’s one of the best things about being a Freelancer, nobody in your office to moan when you put Celine Dion on :)

Thing is, I kind of get bored listening to the same old CD’s so what do YOU listen to as you design?

Here’s my CD choices:
  • Mellow/Minimalism: ‘Moby’ or ‘I Am Kloot’
  • Grungy: ‘Foo Fighters’ or ‘Red Hot Chilli Peppers’
  • Funky designs: ‘Public Enemy’ (I’ve loved em since ‘87)

What do you listen to as you design?

Progressive: Dream Theater, Transatlantic. (Actually I just got my VIP tickets for the Dream Theater concert in Venezuela on march :D ) I’m so fucking excited, I’m a huge fan.

Grunge: Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, Stone Temple Pilots, Hole, etc.

Once you get good, then you don’t really have to concentrate, it comes naturally. :) (At least that’s the case for me).

Not trying to sound cocky by the way.. ;)

I find soundtracks particularly inspiring- lately I’ve been listening to The Dark Knight, District 9 and a few others. :)

Aside from that, I also listen to Radiohead and Muse while designing.

Wow, awesome thanks for introducing me to this. What genre did you search for to find this guy?

No problem.

I was introduced to him by a buddy of mine that makes Drum & Bass (UKToolbox).

He has released two compilations of songs available for download on his page, check them out when you have the time. :)

By the way, the genre is known as DnB or Liquid DnB.

P.S.

You might also check out Oscillist – Spires.
