“Instagram said today that it has the perpetual right to sell users’ photographs without payment or notification, a dramatic policy shift that quickly sparked a public outcry.”

Not good. What are your thoughts?

Let’s think about this for a second, technically to sell a photo (not just on Envato), you need a model release for any identifiable features (e.x. a face) and if you are on private property,.. (e.x. the empire state building) you need a location release – Are they finding a loophole around this? I know technically since they now have the “right” to, doesn’t mean they will – Is there a diference between ownership and use?

Another reason to quit using Instagram. It was great until Facebook bought it. Bye bye

With Instaport You can download all your pictures compressed into a .zip file. Then you just have to deactivate your account.

I don’t use instagram but I’m guessing a time comes when every social platform that becomes popular feels the pressure to monetize itself… and eventually hurts its users because of that.

I can picture a new “Facebook” PD and GR account being created and having 1,000,000,000,000 pending uploads. Maybe thats why its taking longer than normal for approvals ;)

I would say quite the opposite – if there is a market for hipster photos…
