I think it is more of a way for them to have more power and be of more value.

Absolutely. I was gunna say who’s gunna buy them, but people do dumb stuff lol. Fb obviously has some plan, to what it entails..

Also, really…what are they going to do with all these bad hipsters who think their ‘photographers’ pictures? You think they are just going to list all pics for sale? Find popular pics and sift through all the bad jazz? Also who is the market to purchase these pics? They are only good to a certain resolution..good on mobile..what? Backgrounds for your phone for $1? Gl.

I think that the mobile photography is more about the moment than the quality. Let’s say by accident you captured a photo on Insta which is once-in-a-lifetime (which is more likely to happen with mobile devices rather than with professional cameras). It could be alien, war, politic, celebrity etc., but it’s a million-dollar asset to the media. And then bump, Insta guy jumps in, take it, sell them exclusively to the media and you get nothing. Now it’s another scenario. Another story, by filtering they can easily get what photos are on the top view and use them the way they want, like selling them exclusively for using in ads, or campaign, etc., :)

+1 Good points. I think its smart, and someone already said this, but people are not going to care..the users weren’t getting paid before, instagram already owned the pictures. Now they are just saying, hey were going to use these pictures to make us money lol.

The fact is InstaGram changing the terms right now. Before they had no right for this. Unfortunately who forgive or dont care about to delete his account and remove their pictures, that means he automatically accept the new terms. By the way it’s unethical even it’s legal. It’s like the “Congratulation, you won” tricks still remember or experienced that in your country? The whole legal system should be deliberated since the internet expanding so quick. The problem is, those “skeletons” (as we call them in my country) who would have the power and the position for make this reforms, they are so far away to see into this present system works.

There is a lot of idiot things in my original country but there is one thing i think USA and many other counrty should study and learn. Copyright and patent rights is an inherent right of the creator. Moreover you can not disclaim or even sell the privilege. It might sounds weird, and you might think then how can you sell licenses, earn royalty fees or whatever. You can. The only thing is that, the origin of your creation is an immovable fact, as the personal right. Everything else regarding financial rights is possible, licenses, royalty fee or whatever. This kind of trick what the Instagram doing here would be impossible in this circumstance, because even you sign a contract where you disclaim your right it would be just simply an invalid toilet paper.

MSFX, They not going to use that photos as a creative bank. They sell those pictures with the personal informations to researcher companies. They are building a huge databank for surveys, for analyzing. This is the whole concept of the Facebook and any other “antisocial” media.
