Opening a new thread, because other was locked by default?! allowing no feedback

This is a 2 point thread:

1. This button worries me, a lot. Remember that many buyers here don’t even grasp the concept of “authors” and continually refer to me as “Mr Themeforest”, they don’t understand this is a marketplace of individuals and as such, this button makes it look like it now costs a buyer $50 to install the theme. I can guarantee I’m going to get support tickets, 1 star ratings and angry comments all because of this button. Again, some buyers are not able to separate Themeforest, Authors, and Envato Studio, and see this entire place as simply 1 person selling themes.

2. Locking threads instantly so there can be no discussion on a change seems to go completely against the “Envato Community” way, and instead make it seem more like “here’s what’s happening, deal with it”, if you want the community to feel engaged, this seems like exactly the wrong way to go about it.

Cheers – Tom

EDIT: I realise this is a trial & perhaps I’ve jumped the gun a little bit, but I must admit, changes like this that are designed purely to push more traffic to Envato Studio, could actually end up hurting the authors here on Envato Marketplace.

Hey,

I agree with you that some buyers will think we have hidden fees by this new button.

I believe this could get better if “Install & setup with Envato Studio for $50” replace with “Save time and install with Envato Studio for $50”.

Cheers,
Iman

Agree to everything you said, and I don’t think $50 installation fee on a $50 WordPress theme would look good.

Ooo yes, I’ve just spotted it also. It may look to some newbies that it’s mandatory.. not good.

Jo, I think you hit the nail on the head here, that’s exactly my worry.

This means there could be another (locked) announcement in the near future which says we have Studio button an all marketplace items.

The announcement is locked because they are “trialing a new communication approach for our smaller, lower impact releases”.

I wish Envato to find a way to educate buyers about these buttons and make sure this doesn’t affect item ratings etc. Forum is not a way to communicate buyers. The interface should speak itself with the buyers every second :|

Agree with you. The “Install Theme” button is easy to misunderstanding for some buyers and it looks like there is a hidden fee by theme author.

When seeing the button, here might be something that popped up in mind: “What!? Do I need to pay 50 bucks more for installing the theme? Why’s that?”.

+1 to that. And I really don’t like the new idea of locking threads like that by default. Shows the attitude to us as authors.
