I think it’s not the best idea, as it will ruin the consistency of the Web.

When you see johndoe.com/.net/.org/... you know it’s a website address. When you see i.make.great.stuff you can only wonder.

Half of the domains online are currently taken by domain farmers and just sits there. I think clearing these somehow would be a much better solution, but oh well..

I don’t think many will afford to ruin the web’s consistency at those prices they mention :)

Just consider it another kind of [very expensive] Facebook vanity URL :D

Maybe this will be the beginning of the end for the web as we know it, and the beginning of some kind of app-focused internet era. I’ve always thought domain names were a short-term solution.

Hopefully if you would type in say themeforest.net it would re-direct you to the website if the domain was www.theme.forest. Otherwise it would be hard for people to guess what the domain is. Granted you could always Google the website but some people don’t want to do this.
