Hi there…just wanted to let you know that there is an issue with your newsletter subscription form on http://runwaywp.com ....it returns this error: Deprecated: Function eregi() is deprecated in /home/runway/public_html/apps/emailer/process.php on line 19 success

It still sends out an email for confirming the email address but when the confirmation link is clicked it returns this error message: Oops! The address *@*.com was not found.

Cheers, Stelios

Thanks for the heads up. We’ll get that fixed so it doesn’t confuse anyone else.

Dear Parallelus @ I am not a WP author but learning it. Your framework is really promising. But I downloaded the latest WP then Runway but failed to install it. Every time I try to install it says

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

But if I extract the zip folder and then manually put it on themes directory then I can activate Runway. Will you please tell me what part I am missing?

That happens because the files are coming from a Github repository which puts them inside a sub-folder. It’s the same thing I mentioned here: http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/introducing-runway-a-new-open-source-framework-for-wordpress-/112425?page=4#948573

Great suggestion. We’re hoping to add a video introduction on the home page very soon.

Parallelus @@ I’ve started learning RunWay , it is incredible! Parallelus , do you use this framework for your TF projects also? or it is just a light version of your own original framework which you use on TF projects? Anyway it is really awesome … If some day I develop a WP theme for TF then Runway will be my first choice :) Thanks for sharing.

Thanks we’re glad you like it! We do use Runway for our ThemeForest work including Moxie, Incentive and a new theme coming out soon. Before Moxie the Runway framework wasn’t complete, however our past themes like Razor, Salutation and Mingle were built on the original code structure we used as the basis for Runway.

If anything, Runway is more powerful than the themes we release here. It’s not a “lite” version, it’s the 100% full version of the framework we use for our themes. It has so many Extensions you can add and often we don’t need many of them for our themes so the truth is the themes we release are only needing a fraction of the Runway potential. It’s not unlike the Plugin repository for WordPress. You could use every plugin for every site but it’s better to only use the ones a theme requires. That’s what we do for our ThemeForest projects. We only use the Runway Extensions we need.

For our next theme we are including the Runway child (development) and standalone version of the theme. This will let our buyers load the child theme and optionally make edits to the theme options, admin menu names and positions, theme options permissions and more. We think that’s something a lot of developers will use when building a site for a client because they can customize the admin specific to the client’s needs. The best part is that it remains 100% backwards compatible so you can just as easily update the customized version for your client any time a theme update is released.

+1 for the amazingness of this framework.

The only thing that bogs my mind with the extensions (and other TF prospects might feel the same) is the introduction text that says: “they are like plugins, but directly integrated within your theme for easier theme shipping” or something like that.

I know that there is an option to export extensions as plugins, but this intro makes it seem like you’re doing the exact opposite of what should be done, keep functionality in plug-in land and out of the theme’s code..

Up to now, that always kinda scared me to tinker with the extensions too much. Maybe you should consider rewriting this intro paragraph (i think it’s in the WP admin under extensions main tab).

Also, within the extensions, how would you compare the “custom post types and fields” with plugins like Advanced Custom Fields and Custom Post Type UI? Any harm in using these plugins and requiring their install rather than using the provided extensions?

Again, awesome work Andy!
