Hey guys,

Working on a project and I’m using the apple-mobile-web-app-capable meta tag to allow for a fullscreen web-app version of the site.

Problem is, when opening it, the touch callout is disabled, and people cannot save images like they do in regular Safari (by holding for 3 seconds).

Is this even possible?

Here’s my test setup, you’d need to add it to the homescreen and launch it from there.

Any feedback is appreciated :)

it’s getting opened with the normal browser frame on my iPad, image saving is possible too!

Sorry, I was fiddling with it. Adding it now to the home screen will show you what I mean. (had the meta tag commented out)

I was working on porting a wallpaper site into an app when I learned this ugly secret. There is no way to use the simple tap-hold-save for images in a webUI view. I really dont get why they did this, maybe it has changed in the last couple years?

Thanks for your reply, Tyler.

Indeed, apparently there’s no way of doing it. They definitely changed it in the past years, as the web is full of ‘how to disable image saving in webUI view’, not how to enable it…

Guess I’ll just make it scroll past the address bar on load… Thanks again.
