It’s pretty simple. If you have that error it means you probably jailbroke your phone. Just go to C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\hosts

Edit it and remove everything on the bottom part that mentions Apple. Jailbreak software adds a server there that connects to Saurik. If you have that there then it cannot connect to Apple and verify the authenticity of the iOS5 firmware. Remove that, save the hosts file (no extension), restart iTunes or worse case the computer and voila.

Had the same trouble :)

Apple runs about 5 processes in the background at startup on a PC when you have their software installed and for this reason I usually don’t keep it.

+1 Its damn annoying , such a heavy program for playing music :(

So why on apples site the notification center is also displayed nicely on the home screen?

Nope, it’s a clean iPad 2 no jailbreak :-s

Nope, it’s a clean iPad 2 no jailbreak :-s

Then take it to DFU mode. Meaning, service mode. That way the only way to get it back to work is by restoring it. It FORCES a restore.

Be sure to check the hosts file though. You might have something there from an older iTunes version that is no longer in use and may be blocking your system from upgrading! :)
