Sales will get back to normal in a couple of days, relax guys
Sike : We didn’t have a countdown timer in our portfolio and keep in mind we sell on other sites as well where there aren’t any countdown timers for ex. Let’s get things straight, there are no completely original and revolutionary files in stock, it’s all been done before (when fd didn’t even exist). Following your principle would mean we should all stop making stock since anything we’d come up with has already been done and that’s simply unwise. Each author has the right to make any kind of file they feel would make them more money and attract customers. Be sure we’ll create any type of file, even niche ones, that we don’t have in our portfolio, just so that we can offer a complete solution to any client that would place their loyalty with us. If a client loves Oxylus files and is looking for a countdown timer, he’ll prefer to purchase it from us rather than another author, so we’re simply bleeding money by not providing them with what they’re looking for. And I don’t believe you’re entitled to point fingers when most of your portfolio is the same cover flow recycled all over again, not exactly an original concept. In my opinion the only thing that matters is the quality of the file, so I agree, some rejections of low quality common files would be welcome.
Sorry if my post can be interpreted as being a bit harsh, that is not my intention, I’m just stating the facts. Let me ask you another question : would it be better if older files would be deleted when new similar (better) files appear ? Chew on that for a bit and you’ll understand this is simply how the business works, it’s competitive and if you want to succeed you need to play by the business rules and principles, not your own.
sorry, double post
Anyway, I guess this post is going a whole other direction than it should.
On topic : Winter Holidays followed by a week-end, what were you guys expecting ? It’s perfectly normal, just wait a couple of days and it’ll all be fine.
Cheers !

Hey guys,
Just a friendly reminder to everyone, please do not call out any authors specifically or use any rude language, and please remain respectful of one another.
We’re all for productive conversation, but will have to lock this up if it takes a turn for the worse.
Thanks very much!
I’ve been point my fingers at Oxylus for the last week now. I’d be like, DANG !! There’s another file, and its OXYLUS ’s!! And there’s another one!! But as far as I’m concerned, there’s no harm done. Accept for the fact that the previews were a bit messed up for 3 of his files. Must be a pain. I know how it is. I’ve had a preview or two messed up before. Its like, awwww man!! Know what I mean? I think my specialty with conversations is ‘rambling’. I’m quite good at it, don’t you think? Alright, seriously though. Its all good. I mean, at least there were files on the homepage that were up for about 4 to 5 days to compensate for the lack of customers during the holidays. Just a roll o da dice, ya know? I know that, because 3 of my files were a part of those that were up during the holidays. Its completely understandable. And there I go again… ( walks away rambling on about flies and files )
Aw_Shucks – most of the previews on our files were messed up by Activeden, I have no idea how, probably the encription software, worked just fine with our software (amayeta 5). We did have a little bug in a mp3 player preview though and it’ll be corrected soon. Don’t worry, some ppl enjoy reading a little ramble once in a while
Anyways right now we’ll be ballancing new “exciting” complex files with less complex files we need to “tick” on our portfolio checklist. Yes that means we’ll get some people angry because these files will not be all that original, but it’s our duty to our customers to make them. It’s because of requests that we have such a checklist. We’ve been getting serious about this stock flash biz and the results will soon show, I promise you
Aiming for at least 200+ files by spring and at least 10-15 templates by summer.

I think Envato should put an upload limit for each author. There were a dozen OXYLUS files on the homepage some week ago depriving space to all the other authors. That is not fair considering the queue is always full.

I wonder if ActiveDen should be only for exclusive authors. We may lose some great authors but there’s so much talent that Envato wouldn’t miss a beat. Iit will increase traffic and probably persuade non-exclusive’s to become exclusive which will strengthen the marketplace even more. Like Oxylus said, it’s just business.
If there are different files that are useful i would buy them, i have bought over 20 files last year so no i dont think its dead maybe just that other authors mybe sell more , who knows ?

OXYLUS ’s files are selling: he’s top 1 right now so he’s doing good.
if he/they or any author is able to get all home spots with files that sells, nobody should say a word about that.
that’s competion, that’s how it works.
raiseTheBar++ but this still highly depends on human factor.
problem is with items which does not sells at all: they should just be removed.
which is a very easy task and requires 0 human resources.
i won’t mind having half of my own portfolio wiped out for this.
