Note 1: I am putting this in the global section because I expect most people on AD to be pro flash and probably more TF/CC people being against flash.

Note 2: I am making this thread to a) save the ipad thread and b) because this thing leads to heated debate. And debate breaks dogma and dogma is bad.

Note 3: I want a clean fight, no biting or spitting. Make sure you attack each others arguments and not each other.

Anyway, last time I used flash was back in 2003. I used Flash MX but I switched to PS, because flash just wasn’t my thing.

I recently read an interesting post here: http://brendandawes.posterous.com/why-the-web-needs-flash and an interesting discussion there too.

If you’re going to ask “Is Flash dying?” then you have to ask what it’s going to be replaced with and what is it’s competition… but personally I think it’s going to be around for a long time as I don’t see anything else that can match and be as popular as Flash is now ;)

But if your asking this because of TF apparent popularity over AD, that is something completely different. You can read my thoughts on the reason why that is here

It’s an open ended question ;) Maybe the title could be better chosen, but I like the dramatic effect.

You can rename it to “is flash on its way out?” if that makes you feel better. :D

ok :P so why do you think it’s on it’s way out? And what do think will be the successor to it? It’s all very well making a statement, but you need to back it up.

Where did I say I thought that? I actually think it’s here to stay. My original post was simply an open ended question, I want to see debate here for the aforementioned reasons (see note 2)

Arik is just giving the discussion on the other thread a new home in order to avoid the other thread becoming a hijacked thread.

hmmm ok.. well I just thought if you started a thread called “Is flash dying?” then you have reason to believe that it is… and you want to find out other peoples opinions. So I’m just asking why you think that is?

If I were to think that flash is dying then I would call it “Flash is dying” and explain my arguments, however it’s an open ended question, “is flash dying? (voice your opinions)”. Get it? :)

And if you want to see why I started this thread then go to the ipad thread and go back a few pages.
