Hi Everyone,

I’m just wondering if it’s okay to email buyers who signed up on the support forum when you have a new plugin? Anyone doing this? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

Cheers, phpbits

I’ve seen this on the forums before. Once or twice someone has signed up to complain that they didn’t sign up to no spam :)

IMO it’s best to make it so that when a customer signs up to your forum, they can also tick a box that would sign them up to your newsletter. Otherwise I wouldn’t do it.

+1, use an email opt-in when customers register on your forum.

Never send promotional emails to customers (or anyone) who didn’t specifically agree to receive it.

It’s a big no no.
Unless they are subscribed to your email list with their own will by using an opt-in; it’s spam.
Kind Regards,

Unless they checked a box where they’ve agreed for you to send them promotional emails, then the answer is no.

It’s a no-no. One buyer raised this issue in the forum, and it caused an awkward situation for the author. Don’t do this.
