I’m wondering if it’s acceptable to buy the extended license of a website PSD file here on the marketplace and then create and sell a Wordpress version of it?

Has anybody done this?

Sorry, but you can’t do that even with an extended liscense:

(c) Unless you have our prior written consent, you must not directly or indirectly license, sub-license, sell or resell or provide for free the Work or offer to do any of these things unless the Work is incorporated into a work you have created. All of these things are referred to as Resale.

Thanks for the clarification Jami.

How about if it’s a partnership with the PSD Site Template owner, and the Wordpress Theme is being sold under my account?

A lot of people have partnerships like that here. As long as the two parties agree, you can certainly make a development team.

Can I suggest you speak to Ivor; he’s been looking to collaborate with a developer for quite some time.

Jami, I had to read this statement again. Buying a PSD from the marketplace and turning it into a Wordpress Theme, isn’t that called “incorporating the work into work you have created” ?

(c) Unless you have our prior written consent, you must not directly or indirectly license, sub-license, sell or resell or provide for free the Work or offer to do any of these things UNLESS the Work is incorporated into a work you have created. All of these things are referred to as Resale.

From what I understand, that statement was meant to prevent reselling an item as-is, without any additional work done to it.

I can assure you, you cannot purchase a PSD theme from ThemeForest, code it, and resell it as a WordPress theme. You can, obviously, code it and use it for your own use but you cannot resell it.
